FROM THE FOUNDER
This rescue is founded as a tribute to all the animals that have been in my life over the 40-plus years I have owned horses. They have taught me how to love, how to laugh, how to cry, and how to overcome.
Another inspiration for becoming a 501(c)(3) entity comes from Vicky. Over the 40-something years that we have been best friends, she has shared her inspiration, determination, and California rescue experiences. From the beginning of our friendship in 4th grade at South Elementary in Grandville, Michigan, I can’t even guess how many animals the two of us have saved in some way over the years (in the hundreds). Even though we are thousands of miles apart, we continue to share in the experience.
Most of all I have to give credit to my dad, who, over my lifetime has helped encourage and support me in all of my endeavors, especially the ones involving horses. I am so thankful to have his love and patience to guide me.
It is my intention that those who become involved in this operation take away a learning experience that will live on in their hearts long after the initial moment, and I sincerely want everyone to work together with the horses as a common ground, for it is them who are the most extraordinary teachers of all.
Rescuing horses is a tremendous undertaking that no one person can do alone, and I am grateful to those who have helped me in the past, those who currently give to the operation presently, and for those who will come into our lives in the future to give of themselves and reap the rewards possible.
It is my belief that most people have good intentions; but in dealing with rescue the good, the bad, and the ugly rear their heads. I pray
that God gives me and everyone involved the strength needed to complete our goals and keep a positive attitude when the ugliness appears. After all, it takes the bad to make us appreciate the good.
As in any operation, there will be supporters and there will be naysayers. So, to the supporters I say “Thank You”, and to the naysayers I simply say “NEIGH “! Every part of my being is dedicated to this mission, and so too for the many people who will become supporters, donors, sponsors, volunteers, and particpants.
Let our work as Operation Equine Rescue Incorporated, begin!
